Wonderful Sea - duration 6h 30m
Walking along the Etruscan Coast lets you comprehend the deep connection between the region’s historical, artistic and natural treasures.
A succession of charming seaside towns run alongside the Etruscan Coast between Livorno and Piombino: Castiglioncello, Quercianella, Rosignano, Cecina, Bibbona, Marina of Castagneto and San Vincenzo.
From the local handicrafts to the delicious Tuscan traditional food made with locally sourced ingredients, the coast has a rich history and many interesting traditions.
There is also a string of resort areas along the coast, fully equipped for relaxation, protected areas and real wildlife refuges.
Nature is not just the backdrop here, but the true embodiment of the Etruscan Coast. Nature preserves are thick on the ground here, such as the WWF Oasis of Bolgheri, the Magona Park, the Colline Livornesi Park, the Rimigliano Oasis, and in the Valley of Cornia, the Sterpaia and Montioni Parks.
Seaside towns, archaeological treasures, and natural parks run all along the more than 90 kilometres of Etruscan Coast. The marine scenery varies from the white sand beaches of Rosignano and the Baratti Gulf, through to the Marina di Castagneto brown sand, Bibbona and Cecina, to the sculptured rocks of Castiglioncello and Quercianella.
