The Awakening Of La Pedrera, Guided Visit
Quick Overview
The Awakening Of La Pedrera, Guided Visit
The Casa Milà, known popularly as
La Pedrera, is a remarkable building,
a combination of fantasy and functionality
that has made this piece of architecture
an essential part of any visit to Barcelona.
This is where Antoni Gaudí culminated
his career, designing an Art Nouveau
building in line with the new demands of
society at the time but without forgetting
his main source of inspiration: nature and
organic shapes. La Pedrera was declared a
Human Heritage site by UNESCO in 1984.
The building is currently home to the
Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera and also
houses one of Barcelona’s foremost cultural
centres thanks to the range of activities it
organises and the different exhibitions and
public areas it holds.
Every day, La Pedrera wakes up and gets ready to receive
the thousands of visitors eager to discover the secrets of
this wonderfully emblematic building.
Early in the morning, while preparations are underway to
open the house to the public, the nature hidden in all
its nooks and crannies starts to stir: flowers, trees, sea
creatures…
La Pedrera is a creation of nature that comes alive with the
very first rays of the sun.
The Awakening of La Pedrera is a route through
the building before it’s open to the public. As
well as getting to know the house from top to
bottom, visitors will also discover what inspired
Antoni Gaudí to create this architectural
masterpiece.
