The press was driven by water power, but nowadays the main factory is powered by electricity. Though, the watermill is still working - the only one still functional in Greece - and can be seen in operation.
Visit the peninsula of Aliki see the ancient ruins of a 7th Century BC sanctuary as well as early Byzantine Christian churches overlooking the beautiful beaches. Also visit the self-sufficient monastery of Archangel Michael which has a breath-taking view of the Aegean and an imposing atmosphere. On a clear day, you can see the Mount Athos the most sacred mountain in the Greek Orthodox world.
