Royal Site Of Aranjuez with Official Guide, Entrance Fees and Transportation
Quick Overview
Royal Site Of Aranjuez - Afternoon Tour - duration 4h
The Royal Site of the Spanish Crown is 46 km south of Madrid, and situated in a fertile valley on the banks of the River Tagus (Tajo). Admire its famous Royal Palace and numerous gardens which inspired the composer Joaquin Rodrigo to create the Aranjuez Concert. UNESCO declared Aranjuez Cultural Landscape a World Heritage Site in 2001.
In the Royal Palace you will appreciate a wide variety of decorative styles as you view the porcelain treasures in the China Chamber and the magnificent Throne Room of Elizabeth II. For garden lovers, there is also a chance to see the wide variety of plants and trees in the Prince's Gardens, the Parterre and the Island.
Enjoy a fascinating visit to the Royal Feluccas Museum (a type of long and narrow light boat used in ports and rivers). The museum was built in 1963 to exhibit the magnificent boats used by the royal family to navigate the Tagus River.
These include a gondola belonging to Philip V, despite the fact that the ship actually dates to the reign of Charles II, and the boats used by Charles IV, Ferdinand VII and Elizabeth II.
