Quick Overview

4 days/3 Nights Tour - From Rome to Assisi, Siena, Florence, Bologna, Padua, Venice
Head for Assisi, leaving at 7:15 am from the Hotel Massimo D’Azeglio by deluxe coach, and arrive ready to explore at your own pace this tiny walled town built in the Middle Ages. See the basilica of St. Francis at your own pace and marvel at masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. After that, you will have free time for lunch (not included). Board the bus and head for Siena, a Unesco World Heritage Site, world-famous for the Palio, the historical horse race around the shell-shaped town square: Piazza del Campo. Florence is your next exciting port of call, where you will check in at your hotel before enjoying dinner and a well-earned night's rest.
After breakfast, you will spend the day exploring the many delights of Florence, the “Cradle of Renaissance, where, with the help of Michelangelo, Italian art reached its height. Built on Etruscan-Roman foundations, the city flourished in the Middle Ages as a free “Comune” and was further enhanced in the Renaissance period. You will be intrigued by the numerous monuments, churches and buildings such as Santa Maria del Fiore, more commonly known as the Duomo. During your tour, you will be astounded by its amazing dome built by Filippo Brunelleschi. Cross a little piazza to see the “campanile” (bell tower, partly designed by Giotto) and the Baptistery, with its bronze doors which Michelangelo called the “Gates of Paradise.” In the center of the city, you will see Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo della Signoria (also known as Palazzo Vecchio), and the Santa Croce Basilica. Lunch in a typical Florentine restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce. Spend the afternoon exploring the cobbled streets of Florence on your own or take a short trip to Pisa (optional), one of Italy's four main historical maritime republics. There, you can explore the Piazza dei Miracoli with the Duomo, its iconic Leaning Tower, and the Baptistery. Dinner at leisure, overnight stay in Florence.
The tour leaves for Bologna after breakfast at your Florence hotel. There, you will be able to explore the stylish city center with its “porticos”, its shopping streets and more. From Piazza Malpighi, you will walk to Piazza del Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore in the city center, then the palace of King Renzo, Palazzo Podestà and the basilica of San Petronio, which is one of the largest in the world. Bologna is like a seventh heaven for foodies…be sure to take your time over a delicious meal while you're there. After lunch, the trip continues its way to Padua and its Sant’Antonio Basilica: one of the churches most visited by pilgrims in the Catholic world. Later in the afternoon, you will arrive in Venice: the City of Love, one of the most romantic cities in the entire world and, undoubtedly the most beautiful city ever built! Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
