Seven day tour of Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona
1st Day (Tue.) MADRID
Meet at the airport for assistance and transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day as you wish, resting or exploring the area, before returning to your hotel accommodation.
2nd Day (Wed.) MADRID
Enjoy a delicious breakfast in your hotel. Spend the morning touring the city of Madrid; discover the medieval origins of the city, inlcuding the Arabic fortress at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historic architecture. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburg ruler Phillip II, with its Renaissance and Baroque-style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa. See the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace (which you can see from the inside), the Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. Admire nineteenth century edifices such as the Prado Museum. Don't forget to experience contemporary Madrid as well, in areas such as the Gran Vía, the Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla and Parque del Oeste, as well as the commercial and financial areas of modern Madrid. Highlights include the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. Stop for a free drink at the famous “Hard Rock Café”. Take the rest of the day to to continue exploring the wonders that the city has to offer, before returning to your hotel accommodation.
3rd Day (Thu.) MADRID – VALENCIA (train)
Have a delicious breakfast in your hotel. From there, transfer to the “Puerta de Atocha” train station, and then take the AVE, high-speed train to Valencia. Enjoy the journey with the comfort and impressive operating speed of this AVE train. When you reach Valencia, one of the main capitals of the Mediterranean coast, you will see that it has a modern Arts and Sciences Architectural Complex consisting of six key elements called the Hemispheric, Umbracle, Science Museum, Oceanographic, Palau de les Arts and Ágora. Don't forget to sample some of the local food, including the “Paella” that Valencia is famous for. Transfer from the station to your hotel accommodation.
Enjoy breakfast in your hotel. In the morning, have a city tour of Valencia, including a drive through the old city to see its impressive architecture. Pass by the old riverbed of the Turia until you reach the avant-garde complex “Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias” with emblematic exteriors of its six different buildings. In the early afternoon, head northward along the Mediterranean coast to Catalunya, via Tarragona, which the Romans called Tarraco, until you come to Barcelona. This major Mediterranean city is the homeland of the famous architect Gaudí and a lasting symbol of Catalonian modernism. Relax after a busy day in your hotel accommodation.
5th Day (Sat.) BARCELONA
Have a lovely breakfast in hour hotel. After that, enjoy a morning city tour of Barcelona. You might remember that the city was famous for hosting the Olympic Games with great style in 1992. Drive along the main avenues and view some impressive modernist buildings by Gaudí such as La Pedrera, Casa Milá, etc. – all of these have been declared World Heritage buildings. – See the Montjuïc Park with its spectacular views of the city and harbour, the famous Olympic Ring, a fitting monument to Columbus and the impressive Olympic Port. The afternoon is free, so that you can explore this wonderful city and all it has to offer, including some quite delicious and varied types of food. Your accommodation in a comfortable hotel is guaranteed at the end of the day.
After breakfast in your hotel, take a trip through some economically important industrial and agricultural areas until you arrive in Zaragoza, the capital city of Aragón. Admire its scenic location on the banks of the majestic Ebro river, which is the biggest river in the whole of the Iberian Peninsula. Zaragoza was known as Caesar Augusta during the Roman period, and that's where its modern name comes from. Spend some free time admiring the impressive Baroque architecture of the Basilic-Temple of Our Lady Pilar before continuing on to your next destination, which is Madrid.
7th Day (Mon.) MADRID
After breakfast in your hotel, transfer to the airport. END OF OUR SERVICE.
