Don Quixote Experience with Official Guide, Entrance Fees and Transportation
Quick Overview
Don Quixote Experience - duration 11h
Visit La Mancha, homeland of Don Quixote, Belmonte, Mota Del Cuervo and El Toboso village, where according to recent research Miguel de Cervantes was inspired by some of his neighbours to write the most famous novel of all time, “The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha”. You will visit the completely restored Belmonte Castle, and see what life was like for mediaeval knight and the heroes of the stories that made Don Quixote lose his mind.
La Mancha famously produces some excellent wines. You will stop along the way to visit the MontReaga winery in Monreal Del Llano. After a guided visit, you will of course have a chance to taste some of their most delicious wines.
You will have lunch at a typical inn –“mesón”- Mota del Cuervo. After lunch, you will visit its famous windmills that feature in Don Quixote's imaginary battle against the giants. If there is enough wind, you will see how flour –“molienda”- was made from wheat in the traditional way.
The tour concludes at El Toboso, the village where Dulcinea, the love of Don Quixote's life, was supposed to live. You will see the Cervantes Museum in El Toboso, which keeps hundreds of translated editions of Don Quixote in almost all the languages in the world. There are copies of the great book signed by many international personalities from different countries and eras.
The Dulcinea Del Toboso House Museum faithfully replicates the home of a knight in the age of Cervantes, so that you can see where the likes of Don Alonso Quijano “El Quixote” would have lived.
From El Toboso you will return to Madrid, saying good-bye to an extraordinary journey in La Mancha, the land of Don Quixote.
