Cappadocia Classical Tour
Cappadocia Classical Tour - Bus Tour - Full day Tour
A full day tour of the highlights of Cappadocia - ancient architecture, stunning landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage site, and not forgetting lunch at a local cave restaurant, a visit to a Turkish carpet centre and Turkish wine!
The tour begins at Pigeon Valley, named after the hundreds of pigeon houses carved into the rock face out of the soft, local tufa stone. This is followed by a photo stop at Uchisar, the highest point in the area and a great spot for observing the valleys below and Mount Erciyes in the distance.
Next travel on to see a very different part of the area, the Painted Desert at Esenler. Instead of tall cones the rock here is cliff-like and covered with stripes in hues of pink and brown.
Enjoy lunch in a local cave restaurant, carved out of the rock, before heading to the Göreme open-air museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The valley is strewn with monasteries and churches cut from the rock, their interiors adorned with frescoes of Biblical scenes dating from the 9th to the 13th centuries CE.
Finally, take some time admire the art of Turkish carpet weaving in a local centre, followed by an opportunity to try the locally produced wine at the Turasan Wine cave stores - Cappadocian wine is well known for being some of the best in Turkey!
