If you are in search of an incredible experience accompanied by amazing views, join this tour and visit the stunning El Caminito del Rey path, also known as The King’s Little Pathway. This tour runs every Friday from the usual meeting points in Costa del Sol (direction Marbella), and then taking the route Ojen-Monda-Ardales.
Upon arrival at the Conde de Guadalhorce Dam, the main water reserve in Malaga province, the guide will tell you about the history of the Natural Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Area to you. The Gorge Desfiladero de los Gaitanes is a canyon in the centre of the province, carved by the River Guadalhorce. Its northern access is via the Guadalhorce reservoirs and the southern is via El Chorro.
A water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro was constructed along with a channel maintenance path. This one is called El Caminito del Rey meaning The King’s Little Pathway, as it was first opened by King Alfonso XIII. This path is roughly 3 kilometres long, has stretches of less than 1 metre wide and hangs about 100 metres over the Guadalhorce River. It was recently renovated, and travels along vertical walls and a footbridge over the gorge on the same waterway.
