Best of the West - duration 8h
Visit a number of traditional villages, including Câmara de Lobos, continuing on to Cabo Girão, Ribeira Brava, and Encumeada.
Leave Lido behind you as you reach today’s first traditional fishing village of Câmara de Lobos and stopping at Pick da Torre to admire the view. Located 5 km from Funchal, this village had a great influence upon Sir. Winston Churchill’s paintings of its gorgeous surroundings. The village’s name derives from the shape of its bay and the many sea lions living there at the time. The drive will then takes you to Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe.
Later, you continue to Ribeira Brava until you reach the narrow valleys of Serra D'Água and the unique Encumeada, where you can catch some fantastic views of both the north and the south coast of this magnificent island.
You will then have lunch and travel Madeira’s highest plateau with its majestic panoramas.
Next stop is São Vicente, one of the most significant villages in the northern coast of Madeira. At the village of Porto Moniz you will be given an hour to have lunch and explore the incredible volcanic swimming pools.
The tour’s final stop is at Bica da Cana, where fascinating flora surrounds the entire place.
